Volunteer Update

Four Ways to Learn About Volunteer Opportunities

By: Emily Chesnic, Campus Communications & Volunteer Coordinator

We continue to add volunteers regularly to the LCCS Volunteering Program. It is truly amazing to have this strong, dedicated volunteer support.

We want you, our volunteer, to know how to find volunteering opportunities, allowing you to serve where your heart leads.

Four Ways to Learn About Volunteer Opportunities

  1. A Volunteer Program Update Email Blast weekly is sent to our volunteers to highlight the current volunteer needs and upcoming service opportunities.

  2. Visit Lake Center’s Connect & Serve website page regularly to view the current volunteer requests. Sign up if you are able to meet a need.

  3. Volunteer needs also are communicated out by the principals through email and/or a weekly newsletter.

  4. Volunteer needs also are communicated out by the teachers through email and/or a weekly newsletter.

We are grateful for your participation in this program and trust you will be blessed through the giving of your time and talents to Lake Center!

CHILD ABUSE TRAINING REQUIREMENT

January is a great time to set aside about a half hour to complete the child abuse training, as it must be done once a year. Thank you to the many volunteers who have already completed it.

The training may be accessed here: 2023 Child Abuse/Neglect Training

After this video on identifying and reporting suspected abuse is finished, your participation will be recorded. There are no questions to answer. Your participation is an annual school volunteer requirement, per the State of Ohio.

FAMILY EVENT EXPERIENCES – DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE

There is a sign up for needed items for the upcoming Daddy Daughter Dance. Thank you in advance for contributing to help make this evening a special for all who attend!

FACULTY/STAFF EXPERIENCES – LOVE OUR TEACHERS (through goodies)

We would like to shower our teachers with some love on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14. If you are willing to provide a special snack, healthy or sweet, or a beverage, it is would be appreciated! Contributions can be left with the front desk Feb. 13 and the morning of Feb. 14. A slot for this activity has been added to the sign up! breakfast and party, the senior high breakfast, service projects, and the elementary read-a-thon, which even featured a visit from The Grinch.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH EXPERIENCES – LETTERS TO SPONSOR CHILDREN

Mrs. Stock would like to have volunteers assist students again in writing letters and making cards for the children the classes sponsor through World Vision. This activity is taking place approximately from 8-10 AM on Friday, Feb. 3. The classes participating this month have been added to the Current Volunteer Request Sign Ups on our Connect & Serve page. Blank cards, stationary, and stickers would be appreciated, if you have extras!

JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT EXPERIENCES/SENIOR HIGH STUDENT EXPERIENCES

We would like to bless our students during upcoming testing periods for junior high and senior high (freshman and sophomore classes). Please be watching for snack sign ups soon. Testing snack favorites traditionally have been granola/power bars, cheese sticks, crackers, and fruit.

* There is a great deal being planned for the second half of the 2022-23 school year!

Be sure to regularly check the events page for information on upcoming activities.

Be sure to read the principal and teacher newsletters provided to you, as well.

Follow Lake Center on Facebook & Instagram for school announcements, highlights, and more, too.
