Newton-Myers, Shannon

Position: Registered Nurse
About Me and My Family
I’m married to my husband, Dave—we’ve been together since our senior year of high school. We have three amazing kids: Brayden (17), who’s a high school senior; Landen (12), who’s starting 6th grade; and Kelsey (6), who’s heading into 1st grade. They all attend Lake Center.
I grew up in North Canton and graduated from GlenOak High School. In my free time, I love cheering on my kids in their activities—Brayden and Landen play baseball, and Kelsey is passionate about cheerleading. Watching them grow and enjoy what they do brings me so much joy.
Nursing Background
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Ohio University. I’ve been a nurse for 19 years, serving primarily in critical care. Since 2006, I’ve worked in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Cleveland Clinic. It’s been a place I’ve truly loved working and have remained ever since.
A Calling to Nursing and to LCCS
Helping others has always been a deep passion of mine, and nursing provided the perfect way to turn that passion into a fulfilling career. It gave me the chance to care for people during some of their most vulnerable moments. Reflecting on my journey, I see clearly how God has guided me every step of the way, leading me toward a calling greater than just a profession.
After subbing in the clinic last year, I felt a strong sense of being called to this community. Being able to care for students in an environment that values both their health and spiritual well-being is truly a blessing. I am super excited to be in the clinic 3 days a week this year!

Supporting Students in Health & Faith

As a nurse, I see my role as helping students stay healthy, both physically and spiritually. I want to make sure they get the care they need and feel supported emotionally, too. Being part of a Christian school means I can bring faith into the mix—whether that’s praying with them if they want or encouraging them to make good choices. My goal is to help students feel their best in body and spirit so they can grow and succeed.
Health & Wellness Tip
One health tip is to drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated helps keep your body and mind working well. Taking care of our health is a way to thank God for the body He gave us. When we feel good, we’re better able to do what God wants us to do each day.
Faith Reminder
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13
This verse reminds me every day that no matter the challenges I face, God gives me the strength and courage to do my best. It encourages me to serve others with patience and compassion, trusting that He is with me in every moment of my work.
