Kisamore Family Loves Having Their Students at Lake Center
Private Tour Important Part of Decision-Making
By: Emily Chesnic, Campus Communications & Volunteer Coordinator
HARTVILLE – Lake Center Christian School (LCCS) – now in its 76th consecutive year of Christ-centered education – offers private tours to allow families time to evaluate how a partnership with the school will help strengthen their child’s academic and spiritual growth. Lake Center respects that the school they choose for their children to attend has long-term impacts on the entire family.
To support decision-making, each tour provides parents and students with more than just a walk around Lake Center’s expanding K-12 campus. It also coordinates opportunities to get a feel for the school’s culture through interactions with faculty and administrators, visits in chapel time, and a discussion about Lake Center’s five core values: Biblical Worldview, Service To Christ, Diversity, Christian Character and Academic Excellence.
Choosing Christian Education
Last year, the Kisamore family, from Suffield, selected Lake Center as their partner for their children’s Christian education after being encouraged by friends to learn more about the school for their eldest daughter, Eliza. She was getting ready to enter 7th grade and desired to have the Bible intertwined into her classes. The family realized the school would reinforce biblical values taught at home and church.
“We want our children to deepen their faith and grow their relationship with Jesus. We want the influential adults in their lives to enhance their Christian character and guide them with the same moral principles our family holds,” said Mrs. Cynthia Kisamore. “We believe strongly in the partnership between home, school, and church. We are very thankful we found that strong partnership at LCCS.”
Lake Center Christian School exists to assist Christian families and their churches in equipping students for lifelong learning and service to Christ. LCCS desires for each student to have a growing, personal relationship with Christ and exhibit Biblical discernment. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV)
Mrs. Jackie Gilin, LCCS Director of Admissions, says Lake Center is the third strand of a three-fold cord (the parent, the church, and the school) that strives to educate every student with a Biblical Worldview that seeks to glorify God. A Biblical worldview shapes a student’s beliefs about Christ, His Creation, and their God-given purpose.
“LCCS is the perfect fit for our family because we want our children to be surrounded by teachers and friends who will point them to Jesus,” said Mrs. Kisamore. “Our entire family agrees joining the Lake Center family has truly been the best decision we’ve ever made.”

Recognizing the Lake Center Difference
“Upon arrival, the beauty, cleanliness, and neatness of the building and grounds made for an excellent first impression. When we entered the building for our tour, we were greeted with kindness and made to feel welcome,” said Mrs. Kisamore. “We have now entered the building numerous times and are continually impressed with the facility and the warm greetings we receive from everyone we encounter. We truly feel our presence and involvement in the school is welcomed.”
The Kisamore family’s goal was to enroll their children in a Christian learning environment for secondary school. They first enrolled Eliza. She started junior high at Lake Center last August, two weeks before her younger siblings were to continue their education at their school. When their daughter came home on the first day and each day after “radiating much happiness,” Mrs. Kisamore said she and her husband, Allen, quickly decided to transfer their other three children from their school to Lake Center Christian School, too.
“The students at Lake Center are immersed in God’s word, encouragement, positivity, and love throughout the entire day; from math class to the lunchroom to the locker room- the walls of LCCS are genuinely filled with the love of Jesus,” Mrs. Kisamore said.
At Lake Center, students are challenged to have their self-worth rooted in Christ. They actively participate in their spiritual growth, understanding the power of their words, practicing forgiveness, learning to show respect, displaying love for others, and exercising responsibility.
Lake Center currently has 812 students residing in seven different counties and representing 151 churches.
Lake Center values diversity and leads by example, accepting differences and treating others with grace, respect, and dignity. The school recognizes every child has their own unique abilities and talents. LCCS school offers students opportunities to grow through various avenues, including athletics, fine arts, academic groups, clubs, Bible studies, and missions.
Preparing Students for the Future
Lake Center strives to ready students to be productive, responsible, grateful, and dependent on Christ years beyond LCCS.
Lake Center students engage in service opportunities; take initiative to improve the lives of others and care for God’s creation; spread the Gospel and discipline others; use their spiritual gifts for Him; and display leadership skills
“My prayer is that Lake Center will raise up a generation of young men and women who love the Lord and pursue Christ with the passion the cross deserves,” said Campus Pastor Mr. Jeff Knori.
The education at Lake Center Christian School is deeply connected to Biblical Truth. All classes are aligned to standards. Courses are designed to develop skills in critical thinking and conflict resolution and prepare students for college admissions and post-secondary studies and careers.
Lake Center’s K-12th grade is accredited by ACSI and Cognia. The LCCS teachers are certified through ACSI in addition to being licensed by the state of Ohio.
