Oyster, Meghan
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am passionate about literacy and helping all students be the best readers, writers, and thinkers they can be. I have been a high school ELA teacher and literacy leader at Southeast Local Schools for the last 20 years. While I have loved my time serving there, I believe God is calling me to this new opportunity to serve at Lake Center!
What led you to Lake Center?
Oh my goodness, me coming to Lake Center is all God. I was on the school website looking into LCCS with the idea of my daughter possibly attending in the fall. I have loved being in the same district as my children, so when I saw a posting for high school English, I applied. As it became more apparent that I might have the opportunity to continue my career at LCCS, my husband and I continually sought God’s guidance. He clearly placed on both of our hearts that we should take this leap and trust Him.
What are you most looking forward to in this role?
I am most looking forward to helping LCCS administration and staff implement their instructional goals to make LCCS even stronger! I’m thankful I will also be teaching English 11 because I’m not ready to fully leave the classroom. I get my energy from the students, and I am looking forward to discussing literature in the classroom through a Christian worldview.
Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
There are so many!
Micah 6:8 – “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Another is John 16:33 – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
Cooking and baking, gardening, working out, reading. With my family, we love boating, hiking, skiing, and traveling.
Tell us about your family.
My husband Ryan is so supportive and has been my prayer partner in this move to LCCS. My son Carter will be attending the University of Akron in the fall; my son Jackson will be a freshman at Southeast; and my daughter McKinley will be a 5th grader at Lake Center. We love having adventures together!
Any final thoughts?
Lake Center families and staff have made me feel so welcomed already. I’m excited to get started!
