Volunteer Program Update

Good Morning!

I hope you are enjoying this Christmas season and had a blessed Thanksgiving break.

Thank you again to those who brought in treats for Faculty/Staff Appreciation to kick off Thanksgiving break and assisted with elementary classroom Thanksgiving parties. Dishes brought in can be picked up at the front desk, if you have not grabbed them already.

Thank you to those who signed up to provide our teachers with a “Christmas-y treat” on Tuesday, Dec. 20, too. If you would like to bring something in, please include it on the Current Volunteer Requests Sign-Up.

Before Christmas break begins, there are a number of ways to be involved on campus. Some of these activities have been added below.

Note: Elementary teachers are communicating the Christmas activities they have planned in their newsletters. Please reach out to your child’s teacher regarding how you can be of help.

JUNIOR HIGH CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST & PARTY

The Christmas Breakfast/Service Morning for the junior high students is Monday, Dec. 19. If you are helping serve the breakfast, please arrive no later than 7:45 AM. Breakfast will be served at 8:10 AM in the Junior High Hallways. The Cafeteria graciously agreed to prepare eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns. Please view the Sign Up and consider contributing other items for the breakfast/party:

Lake Center Christian School: Junior High Christmas Breakfast/Party (signupgenius.com)

Donations should be left with the front desk and marked “Junior High Christmas Breakfast” before 7:30 AM Dec. 19.

Following the breakfast, Junior High (and Senior High) students will make tie blankets for those in need until about 11:30 AM. No Sew Blanket Kits still are needed, as the goal is to make and donate 200 blankets. Donations can be left with the Front Desk.

Junior high students will have their Christmas Party from 8:30-11:30 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Classrooms will serve as locations for games/activities being planned by Volunteer Kara Kirkpatrick. Kara is emailing further information to the volunteers who signed up to assist at the event. If you still would like to help with this party, add your name to the Current Volunteer Requests Sign Up.

SENIOR HIGH CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST

A Christmas Breakfast for our senior high students is taking place Tuesday, Dec. 20. Breakfast will be served by volunteers at 8 AM in the Cafenasium. We will meet to set up at 7:40 AM. The breakfast will include a hot cocoa bar. If you would like to take charge of setting the cocoa bar up, please let me know. We are seeking donations for the hot cocoa bar and the breakfast. The Cafeteria is preparing eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns. The other items needed: Lake Center Christian School: Senior High Christmas Breakfast (signupgenius.com)

Breakfast item donations should be left with the front desk and marked “Senior High Christmas Breakfast” by the end of the school day on Monday, Dec. 19. Thank you so much for your support!

Winter Formal Chaperones

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 is the Winter Semi-Formal for Senior High. It will be held at Raintree Country Club. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and the event will commence at 7:00 PM. Immediately after the banquet portion, 9-12th grade students will have a parent-chaperoned dance, which will conclude at 11:00 PM.  Parent volunteers are needed! To serve as a chaperone, or if you have a question about this volunteer opportunity, email volunteer Angela Karmie at [email protected].

Elementary Case(s) Decorator

There are cases in the elementary hallway that typically are decorated seasonally. If you love to create, we would love someone to take this task over for the remainder of the school year. If you are interested or have further questions, please let me know at [email protected].
