Nov. 3, 2022

Good Afternoon!

The following is Lake Center Christian School’s volunteer update for the week.

JUNIOR HIGH DECEMBER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

More information will be forthcoming, but there will be a breakfast for the junior high students on Monday, Dec. 19. Volunteers are needed to provide food items, serve the breakfast and (tentatively) to assist students with a service project – putting together tie-blankets for Love our Community. Add your name to the sign up if you want to help!

An email will come out this week to junior high parents regarding the need for no-sew blanket kit contributions for this service project.

The junior high students also will have a Christmas party on Tuesday, Dec. 20, which is an early dismissal day. Classrooms will serve as stations for games and activities. About 12 to 16 volunteers will be needed to help make this party fun for the students. If you know you are available to help with this party, please add your name to the sign up.

SENIOR HIGH DECEMBER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Volunteers are needed to help plan and serve breakfast to our senior high students on Tuesday, Dec. 20 before the students are dismissed early for Christmas break. If you would like to plan and/or serve this breakfast, please let us know. This date has been added to the sign up.

FACULTY/STAFF APPRECIATION –  REFRESHMENTS & TREATS

Thank you to everyone who has brought in refreshments for the junior high and senior high faculty meetings. It truly makes their day!

Here is the sign up, if someone else would like to supply a snack soon: JH/SH Parents 2022-2023: Secondary Staff Meetings: Breakfast/Snack (signupgenius.com)

Elementary will have “Silly Sock/Sweats Day” on Friday, Nov. 18. To go along with this fun day, we would like to offer our Elementary Faculty/Staff some fun treats! If you would like to send one in that morning, leaving it with the front desk, please let us know on the Sign Up!

Additionally, we would love to supply the elementary faculty/staff with some Christmas goodies the morning of Dec. 20! This date also has been added to the Sign Up.

By request, our “Favorite Things List” is attached as a PDF. This helps families see what the teachers/staff enjoy most, which may be helpful if you are looking to bless someone with a small gift for Christmas.

ELEMENTARY STUDENT EXPERIENCES –  CHRISTMAS SHOPPE

The Christmas Shoppe will run Nov. 29 – Dec. 2, during school hours, in the Kaufman Center. Volunteers help students as they shop, check out at the register and wrap their presents to take home. The Christmas Shoppe allows children to experience the joy of giving while learning to work within a budget!

We will set up for the Christmas Shoppe Nov. 28 from 1:30-2:45 PM, in the Kaufman Center. If you have any extra Christmas decor and/or items we may use for displaying the merchandise (baskets, bins, etc.) for the week, just let us know!

Visit the Sign Up if you would like to help! LCCS approved volunteers are more than welcome to come serve when it works best, even if a date/time is full on the sign up.

ELEMENTARY CHRISTIAN SERVICE PROJECT – OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Elementary students can participate in Operation Christmas Child (a Christian service project) by filling a shoebox with small gifts and toiletries for a needy child abroad. Volunteers are needed to help organize the boxes and deliver them to Bethany Mennonite Church. If you happen to be in the school and have a few spare moments, Mrs. Stock would appreciate having volunteers regularly organize the stacks (and stacks) of filled boxes up until Nov. 11.
