Enjoy the long weekend, Lake Center volunteers!

The following is the Lake Center Christian School’s volunteer weekly update.

ELEMENTARY CHRISTMAS SHOPPE

We will be holding our annual Christmas Shoppe for elementary students again this year. The Christmas Shoppe will run Nov. 29 – Dec. 2, during school hours. Volunteers are needed to come alongside the students as they shop, check out at the register, and wrap their presents to take home. The Christmas Shoppe allows children to experience the joy of giving while learning to work within a budget. A schedule showing when each class will visit the Christmas Shoppe is being finalized.

We will be setting up for the Christmas Shoppe Nov. 29 from 1:30-2:45 PM.

If you have any Christmas decor and/or items we can use for displaying the merchandise (baskets, bins, etc.) for the week, just let me know!

Visit the Sign Up if you would like to help! LCCS approved volunteers are welcome to come serve when they are available, even if a date/time is full on the sign up.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Elementary students can participate in Operation Christmas Child (a Christian service project) by filling a shoebox with small gifts and toiletries for a needy child abroad. The boxes began to be sent home this week, and the filled boxes are starting to come in already! Volunteers will be needed Nov. 11 (in the morning) to help organize the boxes and deliver them to Bethany Mennonite Church. If you happen to be in the school and have a few spare moments, Mrs. Stock would appreciate having volunteers regularly organize the stacks (and stacks) of filled boxes up until Nov. 11.

“FAVORITE THINGS LIST”

Our “Favorite Things List” will be sent to families next week (we gave teachers a little longer to fill it out). This helps families see what the teachers/staff enjoy most, which may be helpful if you are looking to bless someone with a small gift for Christmas.

LETTERS TO SPONSOR CHILDREN

Several volunteers still are needed to help students write letters or make cards for their World Vision sponsor child. We will be doing this activity again Friday, Nov. 4 from 8-9:30 AM in the classrooms. Help still is needed in fifth grade and Mrs. Hagan’s 4th grade. Let us know if you can make it. Supplies (stationary, stickers) are welcomed!

“SILLY SOCK DAY” SNACK

Elementary will have “Silly Sock Day” on Friday, Nov. 18. To go along with this fun day, we would like to offer our Elementary Faculty/Staff some fun treats! If you would like to send one in that morning, leaving it with the front desk, please let us know on the Sign Up!

CHILD ABUSE TRAINING

It is necessary for our Lake Center volunteers to complete a brief online training on identifying and reporting abuse on an annual basis per school administration. The training may be accessed here: 2023 Child Abuse/Neglect Training(instructure.com). We appreciate you reviewing this video. It takes about a half hour.
