Lake Center Christian School Cross Country Team Shows Christ Love to Others

Saturday, October 10, 2020, Lake Center Christian ran in the Tuslaw invitational at Nick-a-jack Farms.
The boys team took 8th out of 11 schools. Senior, Caleb Burkholder and Sophomore, Ben Allan both ran their best times.
The girls took 7th place out of 10 teams. Sophomore, Elsie Haught took the top spot with a PR, and Senior, Hannah Burkholder moved up a spot, also running her personal best.
The real story of the meet is a perfect example of Christian character. Junior, Hayley Hulse sacrificed her race to assist a runner from another team who was in distress. Hayley waited with the competitor, keeping her calm, until medical help arrived on the scene. When Sophomore, Elsie Haught came along, she too stopped to offer assistance. Hayley assured Elsie that everything was handled. Elsie then finished her race with her best time ever and alerted authorities that there was a runner down. After help arrived for the ailing runner, Hayley finished her race. She turned in the slowest time she had ever run, but knew that she had just run a race she will never forget. The ailing runner recovered, but I’m certain she will always remember this meet for the shining example of Christianity that was displayed.
