No standardized testing is given for students in grade 9.
PLAN - Preliminary-ACT Test (Grade 10)
All sophomores at LCCS take this test during the school day in the fall. Results are used for estimating future ACT scores. Results will be reviewed in class and then sent home with the student.
**Students with documented disabilities will be given special accommodations on the test in accordance with their IEP/ISP; no special registration is necessary. Parents can choose to have their child take this test without accommodations to observe standardized test-taking abilities without accommodations.
PSAT- Preliminary-SAT Test
The PSAT is given to juniors wishing to take it and is paid for by LCCS. Sophomores may take the test for practice but they must register with the Guidance Office and pay to take it. This test will be given during the school day in mid-October. Results will be reviewed in class and then mailed home. This is the test that qualifies juniors for the National Merit Scholarship Program, which for high scorers may lead to college scholarships.
**No special needs accommodations will be available for students in the 10th grade. This can be an opportunity to observe and document standardized test-taking abilities without accommodations.
**In preparation to take the PSAT in 11th grade with testing accommodations, students with documented disabilities and their parents should contact the Guidance Office for the SSD Student Eligibility Form in the spring of 10th grade; however, approval is not guaranteed.
OGT - Ohio Graduation Test
Sophomores first take this test in March during the school day over five days. This test is composed of five sections: Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students must pass all five sections to graduate from high school. If they do not pass a section, they may re-take that section twice per school year (October and March) until they pass. Results will be reviewed with the students and then mailed home.
** Students with documented disabilities will be given special accommodations on the test in accordance with their IEP/ISP; no special registration is necessary.
ACT and SAT (Grade 11-12)
The ACT and the SAT are national college entrance examinations given on specific test dates at specific locations (not at LCCS). Registration is done by students or parents either through the mail or on-line. A student score from either the ACT or SAT is required for most college admissions. Registration packets, study materials, and assistance are available in the Guidance Office. You can access the most current information on test dates by clicking on ACT or SAT. Our school code for LCCS is 365-120.
**ACT: For students with a diagnosed disability, the approval process for special needs accommodations requires a special application form available in the Guidance Office and possibly on-line; however, approval is not guaranteed. The student or parents should initiate this process in 11th grade when possible.
**SAT: If a student with a diagnosed disability was approved for special accommodations on the PSAT, this approval will cover all College Board testing programs (e.g. SAT, AP) for as long as the student’s school verifies annually that the eligibility requirements and Guidelines for Documentation continue to be met. If a student has not yet been approved, this process must be started as soon as possible by contacting the Guidance Office. Approval for special accommodations is not guaranteed.
